Blue Dirt is a musical experience from a traditional realm, fused with a
progressive twist, described as urban folk rock and recognized in the styles
of blues, jam, grass, dub reggae, and rock. Blue Dirt started in the spring of 2008 when Michael Godmar and Jason Schewe met at an open mic in Traverse City, then again at Pat Nemisto's infamous last "Pickin Party". Many practices and downtown street performances came to follow. With the addition of Sam Busk on electric guitar, a band was born. In early spring 2010 Blue Dirt
added William Kline on keyboards, and in May 2011 added Dede Alderman on drums and vocals, ever since the music has been
slammed into a new dimension of energy and freedom. With Michael Godmar holding down Guitar, Mandolin, and amazing vocals, the power house
stand up bass and vocals performed by Jason Schewe feeding your mind, the sweet jam blues of Sam Busk leading
you into higher and higher degrees of phrasing and break free moments,
twisted and melded together by William Kline on the keyboards, and holding it all down on the drums and vocals is Dede Alderman. Blue Dirt plays a large array of originals and covers. come with us, for an evening, and have.... the Blue Dirt
experience.
